As Marias

As Marias is a musical group composed of women who have in common the fight for Women’s rights, female empowerment and gender equality. Music is your weapon. Composed of 6 women, As Marias is the first female band from the School of Communication and Arts at the Universidade Eduardo Mondlane.
The band presents a repertoire that reflects the Mozambican culture from traditional to modern, from marrabenta to mapiko, from pop to afro and without leaving aside the feminine originality. Always accompanied by clothing that only represents its culture, but also became its defining identity.
